Position Summary: The Program specialist Village Institutions Governance and Gender, will provide strategic direction, technical guidance, and oversight for AKRSP(I)’s work on village institutions and rural governance. This role will ensure that systems, activities, and projects across all geographies are effectively planned, implemented, and strengthened in alignment with organizational goals. The position will work closely with field teams, thematic leads, and external stakeholders including the government.
Skills:
Sound knowledge of community institutions and, rural governance, Panchayati Raj system, and donor reporting requirements management, preferably in the development sector.
Familiarity with village institutions and rural governance related system, processes, tools.
Desirable:
Experience working in rural governance/village institutions under donor-funded projects.
Preferred Attributes:
Strong knowledge of village institutions, Panchayati Raj institutions and government policies
Excellent communication, coordination, and training skills
Analytical skills with attention to detail
High ethical standards and transparency
Proficiency in MS Office and documentation in words/audio-visual
Willingness to travel to cluster offices and project locations as required
Job Profile
Provide strategic and technical guidance to field teams on the formation, strengthening, and sustainability of community-based village institutions.
Design, organize, and oversee capacity-building programmes for village institutions.
Support planning, execution, review, and supervision of thematic activities undertaken through village institutions.
Maintain, analyse, and update the database and documentation related to village institutions.
2. Rural Governance related
Assess gaps in community-level and government systems for effective service delivery; develop strategies and solutions to strengthen these systems.
Lead capacity-building initiatives for stakeholders including government staff, elected representatives, community leaders, and CBO leadership.
Build strong liaisons with government departments and create collaborative platforms to strengthen last-mile service delivery.
Maintain data, MIS, and documentation for governance-related themes.
3. Gender Related
Promote gender equality and inclusivity among institutions
Organize a workshop on gender sensitivity awareness
Track and report on gender -related initiative
Lead planning processes including quarterly, annual, and project-specific plans; ensure effective implementation and monitoring.
Manage budgets, financial tracking, and reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
Document interventions, learnings, best practices, and case studies for internal learning and external dissemination.
Conduct periodic impact assessments, process reviews, and evaluations of interventions.
