Programme Specialist - Forestry

Location: Netrang, Dist. Bharuch (with field visits to programme locations of Netrang, Gujarat)

Education: Graduation/ Post-Graduations degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Rural Development, or related field

Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in forestry or natural resource management, preferably in rural or tribal areas

    Position Summary: The Programme Specialist – Forestry plays a strategic role in advancing sustainable forest-based livelihoods and community-led conservation efforts. This position involves working closely with village institutions, government departments, and internal teams to implement forestry-related programs that align with AKRSPI’s mission of empowering marginalized communities through natural resource management.

Job Profile
  • Develop and execute forestry and agroforestry projects focused on biodiversity conservation, afforestation, and sustainable forest resource use.

  • Promote community-based forest management and support Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs).

  • Train community members, SHGs, and local leaders on forest conservation, nursery development, and NTFP value addition.

  • Facilitate exposure visits and workshops to share best practices.

  • Track progress of forestry interventions using field data and impact indicators.

  • Prepare reports, case studies, and documentation for internal and donor reporting.

  • Liaise with forest departments, Panchayati Raj institutions, and other stakeholders for policy alignment and resource mobilization.

  • Advocate for community rights under the Forest Rights Act and related policies.

  • Promote climate-resilient forestry models and integrate traditional ecological knowledge.

  • Support eco-enterprises and green livelihoods through forest-based value chains.

  • Liaise with donors and government departments to ensure program alignment, compliance, and collaboration.

  • Provide support to agriculture-based projects across regions.

  • Conduct training and capacity-building sessions for field staff, village leaders, and representatives from government and NGOs.

  • Develop training manuals and conduct needs assessments to tailor interventions.

  • Promote productivity enhancement and crop diversification through field demonstrations.

  • Plan and implement sustainable agriculture programs with climate-resilient and eco-friendly practices.

  • Facilitate market linkages to improve agricultural impact and farmer incomes.

  • Prepare detailed reports and maintain high-quality documentation of program activities.

  • Draft program proposals aligned with organizational goals and donor expectations.

  • Analyze program areas to identify key issues, challenges, and opportunities.

  • Promote sustainable farming techniques like SCI, Conservation Agriculture, IPM, and INM.

  • Plan and manage agriculture budgets for effective implementation.

  • Build and maintain strong linkages with local stakeholders, community institutions, and service providers.

  • Ensure timely and accurate donor reporting supported by field data and visuals.

  • Conduct procurement and budget analysis to support program implementation.

  • Analyze program data and document impactful case studies.

  • Monitor program progress and provide strategic recommendations.

  • Conduct program impact assessments and document measurable outcomes.

  • Oversee and manage procurement processes for Head Office and high-value procurements.

  • Coordinate with program, admin, and finance teams to develop procurement plans and budgets.

  • Maintain and update a database of reliable vendors and service providers.

  • Contribute to green enterprise initiatives.

  • Perform any other tasks assigned by AKRSP(I) management.
