Wajahat Habibullah is the former Chief Information Commissioner of India. He has been a member of the Indian Administrative Service since 1968. During his service, he has been a secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Ministry of Textiles and Department of Consumer Affairs. He has authored several books and received the Rajiv Gandhi Award for Excellence in Secularism in 1994. He also received the gold medal for distinguished service from the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in 1996. He has a bachelors degree in history from St. Stephens College, New Delhi and a masters degree in history from the University of Delhi. He has also done a certificate course in Frontiers in Infrastructure Finance from the World Bank Institute in Goa.
